About the centre
The Scientific Center of Turkology is a research institution devoted to Turkic languages and cultural heritage.
The centre operates as a hub for research on Turkic languages, digital corpora and cultural heritage. What distinguishes it is the way scholarly, digital and cultural strands are brought together in a single research programme.
The centre works on the comparative and historical study of Turkic languages, the investigation of ancient and medieval written sources, the creation of digital language corpora and the development of international research cooperation.
The work of the centre rests on three foundations: a solid academic base, a modern digital infrastructure and a broad network of international cooperation. Together these allow it to operate on an international rather than a merely regional scale.
Mission
The centre sets out to collect and systematise knowledge about the language, literature, history and culture of the Turkic peoples and to bring it into international scholarly circulation. Research results reach the public through academic journals, digital platforms and conferences.

- Comparative Turcology — comparative study of the phonetic, morphological and lexical systems of Turkic languages
- Textual criticism and source studies — research and editing of Old Turkic, Uyghur and Chagatai written monuments
- Digital humanities — annotated language corpora, online dictionaries and digital archives
- Literary studies — the history of the Turkic literary language and questions of classical literature
- Cultural heritage — the study and promotion of the intangible and written heritage of Turkic peoples
Symbolism of the emblem
The emblem is circular, symbolising continuity, wholeness and scholarly cooperation. The outer ring carries the English inscription “SCIENTIFIC CENTER OF TURKOLOGY”, marking the centre's international orientation.
At the heart of the emblem is a map representing the geography of the Turkic peoples. It stands for the wide reach of the Turkic world, its historical and cultural unity, and the object of Turcological study.
The stylised “TÜRK” sign placed over the map serves as the centre's internal identifier. Rendering it in the Old Turkic (Orkhon) alphabet points on the one hand to the Turcological focus of the centre and on the other to textual criticism and source studies as one of its main research directions.
The national ornaments on either side of the emblem reflect the rich cultural heritage, traditions and aesthetics of the Turkic peoples. The dominance of light blue carries symbolic weight as the colour of the sky, of openness and freedom, and one of the sacred colours of Turkic culture.
