Objectives

The work of the centre is built around five core objectives. Together they provide an academic foundation, historical depth and modern infrastructure.

Core objectives

Five priority directions

Each objective serves a specific strategic outcome for the centre.

Comparative study of Turkic languages

Research into the phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactic systems of Turkic languages using the comparative-historical method. This direction provides the academic foundation and standing of the centre.

Research into ancient and medieval sources

Reading, annotating and preparing for scholarly publication the Old Turkic (Orkhon-Yenisei), Old Uyghur and Chagatai written monuments. This gives the centre its historical depth.

Building a digital language corpus

Creating an annotated digital corpus of Turkic languages and developing online dictionaries and search systems. A modern research infrastructure is the result.

Academic conferences and seminars

Organising international and national conferences, seminars and academic clubs. This makes the centre visible in the scholarly community and builds a research school.

International cooperation

Establishing cooperation with foreign universities, research centres, diplomatic missions and international organisations. This raises both standing and funding opportunities.

Academic activity

The main forms of our work

The centre communicates its research results in four principal forms.

Scientific journals (ISSN)

An official academic platform: two periodicals, a peer-review system and DOI registration.

Conferences

Regular academic events create a scholarly environment and a space for debate.

Projects

Applied research projects deliver results and financial sustainability.

Academic clubs

Clubs at the centre build a research school among young scholars.

Branding and identity

The centre in the information space

The centre's public image and communication channels are managed as a single system.
